Rugbyclub Octopus
was founded in 1974 and over the years become well known for its annual
15 a-side pre-season international tournament in August. This has turned
out to be the biggest in its sort with guaranteed top teams from Belgium,
Germany, England and The Netherlands. We are situated in a small town called
Uden in the South of Holland in the middle of the triangle Eindhoven, Den
Bosch and Nijmegen close the Belgian and German border.
Over the years we have made many close friends who
we still visit every now and then when touring around Europe. RUFC
Folkestone is a good example of this long lasting friendship. They
compete every year in our tournament and arrive with a coach full
of players and supporters of all ages and stay for the weekend. We
aim to compete in at least three tournaments outside the season and
the best example for this is the Flanders Open 10's in Dendermonde
Belgium. We are the only team who have participated in every edition
of Europe's biggest 10's tournament.
We run one Senior side which compete in the 3rd div. South. We also
have a Veteran side which play occasionally against other veteran
teams but the emphasis for them is more towards the social side of
rugby. We have a Ladies team and are Youth in every age class. We welcome all
touring teams and consider this as good experience and fun for our youngsters.
